The Alden Ewell Free Library is operating with Level I Operations*!
In-person browsing and walk-up borrowing with COVID-19 restrictions in place
In-library browsing:

The library will be open on a modified schedule, identical to the walk up-schedule (Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 AM until 4 PM and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 PM until 7 PM)

Face coverings are required for all patrons aged 2 and up, and patrons are asked to observe social distancing inside the library
-
Public computer access will also be modified to observe social distancing protocol (1 hour sessions per patron per day, some computers are unavailable to ensure social distancing)

Walk-up service will still be offered for those who prefer to utilize it

Returned library materials will be quarantined for a minimum of 96 hours to ensure the safety of patrons and staff. Though your account will show that the materials are checked out an additional number of days, as long as items are returned on time they will not accrue fines or fees.

All items must be available at the Alden Ewell Free Public Library, search the online catalog (here) and limit your search to Alden Ewell Free Library (this option can be found in the left hand column of an active search page)

Requests from other libraries are still available at this time (must be arranged through the online catalog, NOT our library’s request form) but will require more than 24 hours to be available for pick up. When you receive notice that your hold is available for pick up, contact us to schedule a time.

A pick up time will be arranged once your items are ready for pick up

A face covering is required for pick up; if there is someone inside the foyer area, step away from the door and wait outside at a socially acceptable distance of at least 6 feet until they leave the area.

*This Library has been identified as being in a New York State Micro-Cluster Yellow Zone.*
Per the Alden Ewell Free Library’s Micro-Cluster Plan, the Library will re-open for limited in-house services (Level I Operations) in the Yellow Zone when the 7-day equalized average of daily new cases of COVID-19 are less than or equal to 70 in zip code 14004. Level II Operations (walk-up service only) will take effect if the number is greater than 70.
While in a Micro-Cluster Zone, hours and services are subject to change on a weekly basis and are determined by the metric described above which is provided by the Erie County Department of Health.
